Branching is available on Tango Enterprise plans
What is branching?
Branching lets you show multiple valid paths in a Tango. Instead of forcing one linear flow, Tango can guide teammates through different paths depending on what they need to do.
When someone follows your Tango using Guide Me, they’ll see the different options, presented as decision points, and choose the path that best fits their situation or what they are trying to do.
When should I use it?
Branching work best when a process includes choices like:
“Are you creating a new record or updating an existing one?”
“Is the request approved or rejected?”
“Are you working in Tool A or Tool B?”
If different choices lead to different steps, a decision point helps keep everything organized in a single Tango.
Who can use it?
Creators and Admins in Enterprise workspaces can add branches to how-to guides.
Sidekicks in Enterprise workspaces can follow the Tango using Guide Me and choose the option that matches their scenario.
How does it work?
Decision points let you branch a workflow.
Capture a Tango as you would normally, you will later select which steps from this first capture should be part of the first branch.
After completing capture, from the editor, click the plus icon between the steps where you'd like to create a branch by adding a decision point.
Select the tab where you'd like to capture the second branch.
Note: When navigated to this tab, you may want to pause capture to briefly navigate to where you'd like the second branch to start. Once there, resume capture.
Complete capture of the second branch
If necessary, in the Tango editor, drag and drop steps to ensure they are all associated with the correct branch.
Publish your Tango to your team!
Each path can include its own steps, instructions, and screenshots.
